Order Processing

Automatic Order Processing

The FIZ AutoDoc ordering process is automated to a large degree. The system automatically

verifies

your entered journal information.

assists

you in case of incorrect or incomplete document information.

identifies

the journal which contains your desired full text (ISSN selection module).

matches

your order against your corporate eJournal subscriptions and in-house holdings. *

checks

whether the original document is electronically available for download from the server of one of our partnering publishers.

checks

whether your requested document is available in your favoured delivery mode
(format and speed) and offers alternatives, if needed.

displays

"Order Details" incl. document details, supplier, estimated costs, estimated copyright fee and more.

identifies

duplicate orders (on "Personal Level" or on "Account Level"*)

selects

the best suitable full-text supplier.

forwards

your order to this supplier who will then deliver the document directly to you.

considers

any temporary delivery address and cost allocation reference (cost centre information).

assigns

a unique FIZ AutoDoc order number, which allows you to track the status of your order at any time.

notifies

you in case your order cannot be fulfilled automatically. In this case, manual order
processing by the FIZ AutoDoc Service Team is offered.

Due to these outstanding order processing capabilities, far more than 95% of all document orders can be processed via FIZ AutoDoc. Remainders can be procured from external sources on demand.

Manual Order Processing

Manual order processing perfectly complements FIZ AutoDoc's automatic order processing. In cases where the system could not process your order automatically, there is still our experienced FIZ AutoDoc Service Team available to help you.

These orders will be processed manually:

  • orders with incorrect or incomplete bibliographical data, or those which cannot be delivered by our partner document suppliers and publishers
  • orders placed using the order form for "other" types of literature (e.g. conference papers and meeting reports, technical reports, book chapters or whole books)
  • any free-text orders placed via free text order form, e-mail or fax
  • orders from "STN Search Results" or "other Search Results", which could not be successfully analyzed
  • ePrints requests

Please note: Each manual order is intellectually analyzed by the FIZ AutoDoc Service Team. Delivery for orders placed for manual order processing may take longer, as different suppliers may be involved. There is an extra charge for manual order processing (see price list).
