Analysis of spinel compounds in ICSD

ICSD enables scientists to search for text in titles in combination with chemical compound information, e.g., compound classes which cannot be described through specific compound information such as the molecular formula. An interesting example for such a compound class is provided by the spinel compounds.

ICSD now contains 166,842 crystal structures

The ICSD database now contains 166,842 crystal structures, including 131,685 fully determined crystal structures with atom coordinates obtained from experimental data and 29,500 crystal structures with atom coordinates derived from the corresponding structure types. These data are part of the legacy crystal structure data on metallic and intermetallic compounds added since 2008.With this release the inclusion of legacy data from the National Institute of Standards and Technology is finished.

During the update procedure 5,815 new entries were added, 2,592 entries were modified and 3 entries were removed. The work on structure types has been expanded to the newly added and modified data. More than 131,000 ICSD entries have now been assigned to more than 7,431 distinct structure types.
