Analysis of spinel compounds in ICSD

ICSD enables scientists to search for text in titles in combination with chemical compound information, e.g., compound classes which cannot be described through specific compound information such as the molecular formula. An interesting example for such a compound class is provided by the spinel compounds.

General Information

Customers may choose between several options to access ICSD data:

All versions are updated biannually, usually in April and October.

All access options of ICSD use the same interface and hence offer the same functionality including extended crystal structure visualization and analysis tools, powder pattern simulation with the possibility of enhanced manipulation. ICSD currently provides comprehensive search masks for more than 70 characteristics and offers sophisticated mechanisms to build complex queries. Queries can be stored to be reused later or to be combined with other queries. Export options include the CIF format and a text format based on the previous interface FindIt.

The ICSD interfaces include full help on all features in the form of a PDF that can be accessed from the interface.

ICSD Web interface

The ICSD search interface is divided into 7 parts:

  1. The header shows a welcome message. The “Logout” button allows you to leave the current session. After database searches have been performed, a “Print” button will appear.
  2. The Content Selection (top left) allows you to limit the search to either experimental structures, theoretical structures, or to search in the whole database.
  3. The Navigation (left, below Content Selection) allows you to jump back to the “Basic Search” form, to access specialized pages for performing advanced searches, and to manage or combine your queries.
  4. The main interface is the central working place for ICSD. Here you can enter and refine searches.
  5. The Search Action field (top right) allows you to run, save and clear your current query.
  6. In the Search Summary field (right, below Search Summary) preliminary numbers of results are shown.
  7. The Query History field (right, below Search Summary) contains your last 30 performed searches and allows you to access them quickly and conveniently.

Demo Login

In order to get an idea of the features and contents of ICSD you are invited to request a demo account.

Please go to the login page and select the "Get Demo Account" link top left of the page (right under the prominent Login button).

Demo accesses only allow limited access to about 3% of the full content. The demo access will be valid for 30 days only.
