Co-operations and strategic partnerships

FIZ Karlsruhe has extensive business relationships and partnerships with information providers, database producers, publishing houses, full-text suppliers and customers involved in R&D in Germany and abroad. We also work together with numerous academic institutions non-academic research organizations and scientific societies.

Our most important partners from a strategic point of view are:

Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS)

Chemical Abstracts Service, a division of the American Chemical Society (ACS), is the world’s leading provider of quality-checked chemistry information. In a strategic partnership FIZ Karlsruhe and CAS jointly develop, operate and market the online service STN International and offer customer support.  A new task of FIZ Karlsruhe within this partnership is to contribute to the production of the CAS databases. Thomson Reuters is a leading provider of scientific, business, and patent information. FIZ Karlsruhe offers Thomson Reuters’s patent databases, including the prestigious value-add database Derwent World Patents Index (DWPI), through STN International.  FIZ Karlsruhe and Thomson Reuters have implemented the databases in such a way that they best suit the needs of the STN customers.Thomson Reuters

TIB Hannover

TIB Hannover is Germany’s central scientific library for all areas of technology and the basic sciences chemistry, computer science, mathematics and physics. It is therefore the most important partner for the full-text supply service FIZ AutoDoc, for storing electronic full texts, and for using the e-Science infrastructure. Technische Informationsbibliothek (TIB) Hannover

Max Planck Society

Within the scope of the eSciDoc project, FIZ Karlsruhe and the Max Planck Society (MPG) have developed an integrated information, communication and publishing platform for web-based scientific work. The two partners jointly develop eSciDoc and strive to enlarge the user community. Max-Planck-Gesellschaft (MPG)

University of Hildesheim

Together with the Information and Communication Sciences Faculty of the University of Hildesheim (Germany), we work on application-oriented research projects and supervise Master’s theses, Diplom theses, and dissertations. Universität Hildesheim

European Mathematical Society/Springer-Verlag

The European Mathematical Society (EMS) publishes Zentralblatt MATH together with FIZ Karlsruhe, the Akademie der Wissenschaften, Heidelberg, and the publishing house Springer. With the contribution of the EMS, the ZMATH database could be established as the most important mathematical database in Europe. European Mathematical Society (EMS)
